I think if the parents have been giving, loving and supportive of their children then the kids should reciprocate as adults. But it's the parents were abusive, manipulative and narcissistic then all bets are off. I am an only child and although I will step up when I need to I try and minimize interaction with her. You never know what happens behind closed doors.
