This piece hit home with me. Recently someone came back into my life that I hadn’t seen in 27 years. The first conversations was very sweet and we reminisced but then the following conversations turned dark. The person wanted to suck me into their despair. I let it happen for a couple of days and then I had to walk away because I realize the person needed to help themselves. Sometimes we feel we can help people but until they’re willing to change, you cant help them until the can help themselves.
